Observatoire national sur les services publics d'eau et d'assainissement

The "SERVICES" site is the home of the national observatory on public water and sanitation services in France. It provides access to information and data on the public drinking-water and sanitation services, their organisation, price(s) and performance levels.

From its abstraction in the natural environment to its return to a river after having been consumed and purified, water goes through a number of different processes including treatment to make it drinkable, storage, distribution to your home, then collection via a sewer system, treatment to remove pollutants and finally discharge to a river. The water and sanitation services carry out some or all of the above processes in serving their customers.

As a service customer or as a citizen looking for information, you can learn here how the water and sanitations services operate in France, who is in charge of running them (e.g. local governments), how much they cost and how to read your water bill.

You can also obtain information on the characteristics and performance levels of each service in the database of the observatory on water and sanitation services, but please note that this information is available only in French.

The observatory receives its data directly from local governments (towns or groups of towns) in the form of annual reports on the price and quality of services (RPQS), also known as the "mayor's report". It is thus in a position to provide consumers and citizens who want clear information on water prices and service quality with the information they need.

The observatory is above all intended for local governments, mayors, etc. to assist them in managing their services, to monitor changes from year to year and to compare their performance with other services.
